Mary Delle Maxwell Harner, 92, of St. Peters, MO, formerly of Athens County Ohio, passed on Sunday, October 31, 2004, at Barnes St. Peters Hospital after a brief illness. She was born February 13, 1912, in Athens, Ohio, the daughter of the late John and Florence Chaney Maxwell, she was a graduate of Shade High School and Ohio University, retired teacher of 25 years with the Alexander Schools and was a 4-H leader for many years. She was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Albany Grange #1611, Athens County Pomona Grange and State Grange. Mrs. Harner was active with the St. Peters Senior Citizens Center and recently resided at Spencer Place Assisted Living. She was a member of Bates United Methodist Church in Athens County and attended the United Methodist Church of the Shepherd in Missouri. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Mary Virginia and Jerry Aker; one granddaughter and husband, Molly and Stephen Stark all of St. Peters; and, one sister-in-law, Elsie Siers of St. Marys West Virginia; one step-son and wife, Lowell and Florence Ashcraft of Albany Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, O. Carl Harner; two sisters, Winnie Dearth and Elfie Snow; two brothers, Clarence and Marvin Maxwell; and two step-daughters, Eileen Sprague and Orleta Bogner.
