Marlene Dee Jakoubek

Marlene Dee Jakoubek of Saint Louis, MO, passed away at the age of 87 on Friday, September 4, 2020. Marlene is survived by her beloved husband, Arthur L. Jakoubek; her children, Rodney "Mike" M. (Gail) Jakoubek, and Kelly Rogers; her grandchildren, Stacy Smith and Jessica (Kenneth) Boone; her great-grandchildren, Clayton, Ella & Gracie Smith, and Rudy, Payton, Montana, and Reggie Boone; her brothers, Franklin (Maureen) Grimes and David Dyas; and her numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thurber and Evelyn Grimes; and three brothers, James D. (Survived by Aryline) Grimes, Rodney M. (Survived by Joan) Grimes, and Huntleigh (Survived by Shirley) Grimes.

Marlene enjoyed volunteering in all sorts of organizations from the PTA to the Police Advisory Board. She had a keen interest in local Missouri history and belonged to several historical societies including the Hermann Historical Society and Overland Historical Society. Marlene treasured the friendships she made while participating in all of her groups and clubs such as the Ladies’ Lions Auxiliary and the Hermann Hospital Auxiliary.

Her hobbies were very diverse and for fun she liked tending to her beautiful garden or taking up a crafting project. She kept a lovely home and was always thinking of the next way to re-decorate it. Cooking was a way for Marlene to connect with her family and they constantly looked forward to sharing one of her delicious meals together. Marlene was an avid reader and loved the game nights she had with family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marlene’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
