Marie Elizabeth Moore

Marie Elizabeth Moore (nee Twiehaus) began her heavenly journey with our Lord and Savior on Friday, September 11, 2026. She was born on August 27, 1928, in Wright City, MO to the late Robert and Mabel Twiehaus. She was the beloved wife of John Moore, cherished mother of Beverly Moore and Charles (Mary) Moore, treasured grandmother of Christopher (Lori) Moore and Cate Moore and adored great-grandmother of Maddi, Molli and Maci Moore. She is the dear sister-in-law of Reneé Gibson and Ruth Twiehaus and devoted aunt to many nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband John, parents Robert and Mabel Twiehaus, step-mother Evelyn Twiehaus, brothers Lawrence (Agnes) Twiehaus, Melvin (Grace) Twiehaus, Wilford (Ethyl) Twiehaus, sisters Gladys (Oscar) Walterman, Dorothy Wright and brothers Louis Twiehaus and Bobby Twiehaus, father-in-law and mother-in-law Ray and Ida (Strutman) Moore, sister-in-law Georgie (Bill) Brokaw, brother-in-law George (Dixie) Moore, sister-in-law Anna Mae (Elwood) Daniel and brother-in-law Lewis Gibson, sister-in-law Goldie Moore as well as several nephews and nieces.

Marie left home at the age of 18 and moved to St. Charles. She worked at Procter and Gamble and waitressed at numerous places including Big Boy's in Wright City and Three Flags in St. Charles. She received her real estate license and worked along side her husband John for L & M Realty. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and a long-time member of Friedens UCC in Warrenton, MO. She was a devoted volunteer at the Agape Resale Store in Warrenton, MO, for over 20 years where she was known as the Joke Lady.

She and John bought property down at the Lake of the Ozarks where they vacationed every summer and where she taught her kids and most of her nephews and nieces to ski. They spent over 25 years on the farm they bought in Potosi, MO, and she said they were some of the best years of her life

Marie truly loved life and everyone she met. She was the epitome of positivity and common sense, so very wise and grateful for even the smallest of blessings. She grew up poor but said they never knew it because her house was so full of love and she passed that along to her family.

She believed in God, family, hard work, being kind and always doing your best. She lived every day to the fullest and had no regrets. She was a jokester and loved having fun. You always felt better after spending time with her. She loved rooting at her kids' and grandkids' sporting events, playing pinochle, jitterbugging, singing, helping others and making even the smallest occurrences into a fun event.

Anyone who knew Marie is a better person because of it and the positive impact she left on this world will not be forgotten.

Per Marie's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Agape Resale Store or Friedens UCC both in Warrenton, MO.
