Marguerite Ellen Hartley

July 19, 1937 — March 5, 2026

St. Charles, Missouri

Ellen Hartley passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026 at the age of 88. She loved attending church and singing songs about Jesus throughout her life. She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters Julie(Lance) Clemens, Cindy Ruane, and Amy (Todd) Galbierz; 7 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters.

She was born to Marguerite and Kenneth Stadon in Lansdale, PA on July 19, 1937 and although she moved frequently, she loved returning to the area, especially in the fall.

Ellen was a strong independent woman who loved her family dearly. An only child who was born during the depression, she often spoke of how she wanted her children to have siblings for companionship. She sacrificially gave so that her three daughters could have a better life. Knitting and sewing were her passions and she made many matching outfits and sweaters for her daughters and blankets for grandchildren.

Staying at home to raise her family, she later returned to the workplace to help pay for college tuition. After retiring in 2015 at the age of 78, she joined the St Lukes volunteer program and earned her 2000 hour pin.

Her hand knit socks are worn by many friends and family members, reflecting her love of them and her favorite hobby. Dearly loved, she will be missed by her family and friends but her legacy will continue in the stories shared and socks worn by those who loved her.

A celebration of life is planned for extended family at a later date.
