Weisenstein, Margarette L. (NEE: McDonald), of St. Peters, Missouri, formerly of Florissant and St. Louis, Missouri, and Rector, Arkansas, died on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the age of 84. Loving wife of Harold F. Weisenstein; beloved daughter of the late Ernest and Wilton McDonald; devoted mother of Sharon (Philip) Thompsen and Debra Weisenstein; adoring grandmother of Maryann (Russell) Sargent and Kevin Racine; cherished sister of Barbara (William) McDonald-Wathen; adoring aunt of James Robert Steenbergen, Brenda Miller, Barry Steenbergen, and Karen (Tom) Roach. She is also survived by her "German family": Dagmar (Erika Ullmann) Neuberg, daughter; Michael (Stephanie Auer) Neuberg, grandson; Anne-Kathrin (Turgay) Neuberg-Vural, granddaughter; Jona, Niklas, and Mara, great-grandchildren; and Hans Neuberg, father of Michael and Anne-Kathrin. She also enjoyed keeping in touch with six special great-nieces and great-nephews: Cathy Williams-Ridley, Barry Don Steenbergen, Becky Miller, Zachary Roach, Madisen Steenbergen, and Bailey Roach; and numerous great-great nieces and nephews. Reared in Clay County, Arkansas, Margarette moved to St. Louis at the age of 15, eventually living in St. Louis County and later St. Charles County. She was proud of getting her bachelor's degree in education at the age of 40. She then taught school for about 10 years, mostly fifth grade, in the Ferguson-Florissant School District. Margarette enjoyed life, including travel, friends, church, and her family. She volunteered in many different ways over the years. She was an avid reader, loved playing games, and could also often be found with a crossword puzzle in her hands! Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Ronald McDonald House.
