Lucille Mildred “Dollie” Hinz (nee Gephart), of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the age of 98. Beloved wife of her first husband, the late Rev Charles L. Freed and her second husband, the late Frederick Hinz; cherished daughter of the late Ruben A. and Ida H. Gephart; devoted mother of David L. (Betty) Freed and the late Dianne L. Freed and stepmother of Kathy Henkin, Mary Steinke, Carolyn Bernot, and Barbara Swetmann; loving grandmother of Jason Freed, Tammy (David) Kozinski, Austin and Mason Kozinski, Emily, Brooke, and Caleb Freed; dear sister of the late Bernice Leonard, the late Gertrude Laszcwski, and the late George Gephart.

Dollie grew up in Wisconsin and attended school there, graduating from Central High School in Sheboygan. She continued her education at Warner Pacific College in Portland, Oregon, where she graduated, later attending nursing school. On May 28, 1948, she married Rev. Charles L. Freed, and together they had two children, David Lee Freed and Dianne Lynne Freed. Dollie devoted much of her life to serving the church, teaching children, singing in the choir, and supporting her husband in his ministry. Charles passed away on July 3, 1993, following a long illness. On January 23, 1997, Dollie married Rev. Dr. Frederick C. Hinz, and the two enjoyed traveling together to various places around the world. Frederick passed away on April 4, 2009, and Dollie later moved back to Missouri to be closer to her family. Dollie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In Loving memory of her wonderful Christian Mother, the following was written by Lucille M. Freed in May of 1995:

MY "SPECIAL" MOTHER

Mothers---

They come in all sizes, they are called by various titles.

They are of all nationalities, from all over the world; a special loving tribute is given to mothers on this day.

The young are praised for their hours of devotion, spent holding

and teaching values to their young children.

The older and aged mother is praised and loved for their countless

sacrifices she made through the years.

There is yet another mother---

The mother who no longer is here to love, to touch and hold, to teach her children and sacrifice for her family.

She is that "Special” Mother;

her work on earth is done, and now awaits her family in Heaven so fair.

A "Special" Mother was mine, no longer burdened by the toils of the day here on earth.

You see it was my "Special" Mother who taught me to pray.

She drew me gently from the paths that would have led me astray.

"It was your love, my darling Mother, that has been my guiding star throughout my days.

And now as you look down from the Heavens above, May I say, It is now that I'm approaching the twilight years of my life.

I, have known the things that made you happy and sad, for

I too have lost the dearest to my heart.

I now can understand why so oft there were tears in your eyes

Time truly is swiftly passing; it won't be long 'til I will come to join you.

Will you stand & listen for me at the gate?

You see, I'm on my way Home. Oh--Yes--I know the way, Remember, it was you that showed me the way so many years ago

Memorials may be made in Dollie's memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
