Louis M. Sappanos, Captain, USN (Ret)

Captain Louis M. Sappanos, Captain USN (Ret), of St. Peters, Missouri, died on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the age of 85. Loving husband of the late Barbara Sappanos; beloved son of the late Louis and Emma Sappanos; devoted father of Peter (Kathleen) Sappanos, Leslie (Marc) Caris, and Emmy (David) Yoder; cherished grandfather of Devan, Anthony, Michael, Peter II, Adam, Evan, Jenny, and Hannah; dear brother of Donald "Butch" Sappanos. He is preceded in death by his sister Marjorie Lyons. Captain Sappanos entered the navy in 1945. He retired 28 years later. He received his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois and his MBA from the University of Michigan. He retired from the navy in 1973 and joined Control Data Corporation (CDC) in Minneapolis MN. In 1976, CDC sent Lou and his family to Frankfurt, Germany for three wonderful years running their European spare parts operation. He retired from that company in 1986. Barbara and Lou moved to Panama City, Florida in 1988 where he did volunteer work at Tyndall Air Force Base for 5 years as their Director of the Retirees office. He then delivered "Meals on Wheels" for another 4 years and enjoyed every minute of it. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors.
