Lori Jan Nay passed peacefully at the age of 69 on January 28th, 2026, in Chesterfield, Missouri. She was born on August 30th,1956 to Manley “Al” and Karen Greta Young in Renton, Washington. Lori lived a life defined by adventure, faith-filled service, and love for family.
As a former military wife, Lori called many places home, though her heart and residency was divided between Washington state and Missouri. Professionally, she was a trail blazer. As a successful financial advisor for Edward Jones in Yakima, Washington, she was a fierce advocate for women and veterans in the industry, mentoring many towards their own career success.
Lori had a spirit of adventure! Whether she was hiking, kayaking, or fishing, she found sanctuary in nature. Her travels took her across the globe—from the mountains of Switzerland to the markets of Morocco and Hungary— always returning with art and trinkets from her journey. At home, she was a woman of many passions; she was a hobby pianist, a voracious reader who could finish a novel in a single sitting, and, in her later years, a surprisingly devoted K-Pop fan.
A wonderful baker, Lori, was known for her chocolate chip cookies. She shared them often with friends and neighbors as well as accountants during tax season. She and her mother, Karen, formed a dynamic culinary duo, catering countless events for church, clients, and friends.
Above all, Lori cherished family. She shared a close bond with her parents and brother. She loved and raised five children as well as a special niece. She enjoyed gift-giving and hosting “Christmas bingo” parties.
A dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Lori’s faith was an active one. As a young woman, she learned Italian to serve a mission in Italy. She continued to serve her community throughout her life as a Sunday school teacher and Cub Scout leader.
Lori was preceded in death by her parents, Manley “Al” and Karen Greta Young as well as her brother, Gary (Christie) Young. She is survived by her children Jessica (Lance) Hatch, Austin (Nanette) Nay, Chester (Allison) Nay, Billy Nay, and Christian (Beckie) Nay. She was an extra special aunt to Danae Lee (Beto) Esquivel. “Grandma Lori” adored her grandchildren: Amelie, Karalyn, Memphis, Archer, Vivienne, Ellen, James, and Walton. Other family members include niece Marisa Halvorson, niece Nicole (Mike) McInnis, nephew Clint Youg as well as Uncle Terry (Jill) Meloy and her ex-husband, Blake Nay.
Lori fought valiantly against Parkinson’s Disease. Donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
