Loleta Fay Ditmeyer (nee Simmons), of Wentzville, MO, passed away Monday, May 25, 2026, at the age of 87. Loving wife of the late Robert F. Ditmeyer; beloved daughter of the late Oscar E. and Vivian Simmons; devoted mother of Barb (Larry) Lindsey, Dan (Jackie) Ditmeyer, Jerry Ditmeyer, and Karen (Greg) Farmer; dear sister of Norby Simmons; cherished grandmother of Angie (Kelly), Amber (Pat), Kimberly (Kyle), Drew, and Holly; treasured great-grandmother of Erin (Trey), Jordan, Cameron, Kayleigh, Rylan, Colton, Cora, Liam and Paisley. Loleta is also preceded in death by her daughters, Darlene Smalley, and Mary K Ditmeyer and her sister, Carol Garrison, and grandchild, Richie.
Loleta was a woman of deep faith and a devoted member of All Saints Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Ladies’ Auxiliary. She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including crocheting, reading, sudoku and word find puzzles, gardening, and canning vegetables from her garden. An excellent cook, Loleta loved preparing meals for those she cared about.
She enjoyed music of all kinds, especially polka and country music, and could often be found dancing along to her favorite songs. Loleta also loved spending time outdoors, whether relaxing by the river beach, water skiing, or visiting with neighbors and friends. She treasured the many lifelong friendships she made while working at White Castle and had a special fondness for trips to the Muny and The Fox. She also enjoyed cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and going to the movies on occasion. She was even known to be a fan of Channing Tatum.
Quiet and kindhearted, Loleta had a way of making everyone feel welcome and included. She treated friends and loved ones like family and touched countless lives through her warmth, generosity, and caring spirit. Loleta was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made in Loleta's name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
