Lois Jean Bates

Lois Jean Bates (nee Hobbs), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the age of 99. Beloved wife of the late William F. Bates; cherished daughter of the late Rev. Everett and Katie Hobbs; devoted mother of Linda (Robert) Muschany, Karen (Gaylord) Daleen, and June (Paul) Meade; loving grandmother of William E. Muschany, Barbara (Mark) Wehmeyer, Marsha (Archie) Goggin, Robert Michael Muschany, Christopher (Shelly) Daleen, Timothy Daleen, Sara Korczak, Jake Meade, and Andy Meade; dear sister of 3 brother who preceded her in death, Carl (Frances survives), Donald, his wife Dorothy Jean, and Calvin (Rayberta survives); treasured great and great-great grandmother and aunt to many.

Lois was a 50-year member of Alexander Chapter 242 of St. Charles. She was a worthy matron of Eastern Star; past worthy high priestess of the Order of the White Shrine and she made two trips to the Holy Land. Lois served as the church pianist at the first Baptist church in St. Peters. Lois was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be made in Lois's name to Shriners’ Hospital for Crippled Children.
