Derrick, Lloyd M., of Florissant, MO, died Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at the age of 86. Beloved husband of 43 years to the late Audrey K. Bloch; cherished son of the late Calvin and Zana Derrick; loving brother of Helen Hoechst and Lucielle Giles; treasured uncle of Albert L. "Skip" (JoAnn) Bloch, Daniel (Cheryl) Bloch, John (Audrey) Bloch, Susan Hoechst, David Hoechst, Larry (Pam) Gardner, and Linda Tedeschi. He is also survived by many other special nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by 7 siblings, Ruth, William, Ethel, Elsie, Dorothy, Ralph, and Robert.
Lloyd proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He went to work for Curtiss-Wright in 1948 before being drafted to the war. When he returned from the war, he went back to work for what had become McDonnell Aircraft. He retired from McDonnell Douglas in 1994 after 45 years of dedicated employment. He was an avid gardener all of his life, and worked at Maurer Florist in St. Louis County when he was in high school. Lloyd especially enjoyed sharing the bounty of his garden each year with his many friends and family members.
Lloyd will be remembered for his amazing brownies and beautiful smile. He was a devoted son, husband, and nephew and a loving brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, neighbor, and friend. He was dearly loved, and will be missed by all who knew him.
