Leonard was born on August 11th 1949 to Eugene and Stella (Przewoznik) Tinsley in University City, Missouri. After graduating from University City High School in 1967, he went on to study at Renken Tech and became a member of the United Auto Workers (UAW) Union and a Teamster. Leonard worked in the auto industry and completed his 55 year career at Weber Chevrolet retiring in 2020.
Leonard met his partner, Mary Kay Scannell in St. Charles, Mo where he lived with their dog, Petey.
Leonard was predeceased by his father, Eugene Tinsley, his mother, Stella (Przewoznik) Tinsley, his brothers, Richard and Steven Tinsley and his dogs, Lacey, Odie and Dolly.
Leonard is survived by his brothers, Eugene, (Joyce) Tinsley, Victor Tinsley, sister, Nancy (Ron) Sass, many nieces and nephews, 2 stepdaughters, Joan Scannell and Jayne (Tom) Draney, 1 stepson, Dennis Scannell and his loving grandchildren Catalina and Liam Draney.
Leonard was a quiet, kind and generous man. He loved being silly and making people laugh in his soft-spoken way. Leonard enjoyed his rock music, kayaking, walking the dog, music on Main Street and sharing newspaper clippings. Often called the dog whisperer, he always carried “cookies” in his pocket not only for Petey but for every dog in the neighborhood. He loved all dogs like they were his own.
Petey, Leonard and Mary Kay’s current dog was resting in Leonard’s lap while he peacefully passed away. Rest in peace, Leonard. Until we see you again.
