Tankersley and the late Geraldine Tankersley (nee: Fisher) and Kathryn Ray Tankersley (nee: Ward); son of the late Jimmie and Maggie Tankersley; devoted father of Lawrence C. ''Sonny'' Tankersley, Judy (Glenn) Latronico, Linda (Mike) Hammerle, Larry Tankersley, Dennis (Brenda) Tankersley and Leslie Jean Potter; dear brother of Betty Goodon and the late Roy, Donald, Robert, Otis, Jay and Faye Tankersley, Jewell Tolley and Agnes Daley; beloved grandfather of 19 and great-grandfather of 25. He was an Uncle to a host of nieces and nephews. Larry was a Tool & Die Maker for McDonnell Douglas for 30+ years before his retirement.
