Kurt Edwin Baue, of St. Charles, MO, passed away Monday, May 4, 2026, at the age of 78. Beloved husband of the late Judy Ann Baue; cherished son of the late Alma Amelia Hoffstetter and Frederic William Baue, Sr.; devoted father of Sarah Jane (Joseph) Baue Whitener; loving grandfather of Richard Spencer Shomaker, Sydney Milo Shomaker, Sabrina Jean Shomaker; dear brother of Fred (Jean) Baue, and Jane (Richard) Maddox.
Kurt was a proud U.S. Army veteran, serving as an E5 Seargeant during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968, and was later active in the American Legion and VFW. He was a longtime self-employed foreign car mechanic who owned his own shop in O’Fallon. A man of many passions, he was a founding member of the Roadrunners Motorcycle Club and an accomplished vintage motorcycle racer, even competing at the Bonneville Salt Flats. He loved playing guitar, traveling, and once journeyed to Africa on a mission trip. Active in the Lions Club, VFW, and Immanuel Lutheran Church, he was known as “everybody’s best friend” for his kindness, generosity, and unique sense of humor. He enjoyed caring for his yard, watching birds, and living a healthy lifestyle. Above all, he was deeply devoted to his family- a loving Pawpaw who was always there to help, whether fixing cars, working in the yard, or simply spending time together. He will be remembered as a truly one-of-a-kind man. Kurt was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in Kurt's name to Jefferson Barracks VA Hospice.
