Krista Cay Chrun (née Perryman, formerly Hengst), 59, of Moscow Mills, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born on May 19, 1966, in Manhattan, Kansas, to the late Richard and Elree Perryman, Krista devoted her life to caring for others—as a dedicated nurse, a loving mother, and a loyal friend. She worked as a nurse for 22 years at SLUH and Barnes-Jewish West County, offering comfort and compassion to countless patients. Her kindness, strength, and warm, friendly nature left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Krista faced years of medical challenges with grace and resilience, never losing hope or her quiet strength. She inspired those around her with her selflessness and unwavering spirit.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Ted Chrun; her sons, Tyler and Ryan Hengst; and her stepchildren: Josh, Taylor (Nick), MacKenzie (Jonah), Kennedy, and Sydney. She was a proud grandmother ("Nay Nay") to Coraline, Carson, Lola, Sloane, Palmer, and Jude. Krista is also survived by her siblings, De Ann Reed, Linda McQuillen, and Ricky Perryman, along with many dear friends, extended family, and former colleagues who will cherish her memory.
Krista will be remembered for her kind heart, her quiet courage, and the way she made others feel seen and loved. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched—both in her profession and in her family.
A celebration of life will be held on August 30 from 4–8 p.m. at PFEM Hall & Banquet Center: 115 McMenamy Rd Saint Peters, MO 63376
United States. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Krista’s honor to Cancer Support Community Greater St. Louis.
