Kimberly "Kim" Dawn Short of St. Charles, MO died April 4, 2026, at the age of 61. She was born on February 1, 1965, to Michael and Elizabeth "Betty Lou" Short. Kim is survived by her daughter Kara (Alex) Petersmeyer, grandson, Merlyn Petersmeyer, siblings Timothy (Susan) Short and Michelle "Shelly" Steiner, and niece Grace Steiner.
Kim was formerly employed by the Orchard Farm School District, the St. Charles County School District, McDonnell Douglas (Boeing), St. Louis University, and Missouri Baptist Hospital. She was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, National Association of School Nurses, the Missouri Association of School Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society, and the American Holistic Nurses Association. Kim's outgoing personality allowed her to experience life to the fullest. She loved playing games, cooking, quilting, and telling jokes. Two of her favorite sayings were: "Life is an adventure, enjoy every moment" and her beloved Granny's adopted message "Put on your lipstick and have a plan!"
Before her death, Kim made it clear that she was not to be cried over but remembered for her good humor and cheer. She will be missed by everyone.
