Kenneth Houchins, affectionately known as Kenny, was born on November, 9th, 1938 in Moberly, MO. He passed away peacefully on Monday May 19th, 2025 in O'Fallon, MO.
Beloved husband of Elizabeth Ann Houchins; cherished son of the late Irvin and Velma Houchins; devoted father of Kimberly Kleeschulte and Kerri (Doug) Howell; loving grandfather of Kelsey (LT), Kyle, Austin (Allie) and Alex; treasured great-grandfather of Jaylen, Dezmond, Savannah, Teagan, Coby, Alexavier, Sawyer, Blakely, Sutton, Beckett and Easton; dear brother of the late Ossie (the late Gib) Bailey; loving uncle to many.
Leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love, and camaraderie that will be forever cherished by his family and friends. He proudly and honorably served his country for four years in the United States Navy. He served on the USS DeLong DE-684 and the USS Davis DD-937. Ken and Betty were married for 59 years. After his time in the Navy they relocated to St. Louis and he begin his working career at UPS and he spent just shy of 30 years with the company as a dedicated employee. He started at UPS as a maintenance mechanic and retired as a district manager. He was highly respected in his career and was renowned for being a hard worker.
Following retirement Ken and Betty moved to Lake of the Ozarks where he volunteered for several years at the Hope House, where he was always willing to lend a hand and extend his support to those in need. Ken was a man of remarkable character. He was generous, humble and admired not only for his abilities but also for the kindness he showed to everyone he encountered.
Ken's interest was of a well-rounded man who loved life. He had a passion for golf and always looked forward to his Tuesday morning golfing with his buddies. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. He enjoyed cruising and traveling the world with family and friends. He loved boat rides and fishing with his grandkids on his dock at the lake. Ken lived his life to the fullest. He was deeply committed to the people who brought him joy. In the hearts of his family and friends, Ken's memory will be etched forever. He was most proud of his beloved family and his love serves as a testament to a life well lived. May he rest in peace surrounded by the love he so freely gave.
