Kenneth Burnell Carns, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at the age of 81. Loving husband of 48 years to Carolyn Carns; beloved son of the late Walter M. and Hattie (nee Hannah) Carns; devoted father of Stephanie (Kevin) Carleton, Ph.D.; cherished grandfather of Olivia Grace Carleton and John “Jack” William Carleton; treasured uncle of 13 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his siblings Jacqueline Freund, Vernon “Bud” Carns, Raymond “Sonny” Carns, Walton “Pete” Carns, Wayne Carns, Ronald George Carns, Robert “Bull” Carns, and Tommy Ray Carns.
Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 23 years. He served at 16 different bases and in the Vietnam war before retiring in 1978. Kenneth was a member of Church of the Shepherd where he volunteered in several capacities including the church food booth at Festival of the Little Hills and was a founding member of the church fish fry. Kenneth was a 50 year member of the Masonic Hope Lodge #162 in Sparta, Illinois where he was a Master Mason. He became a Shriner (York Rite) in 1975 while stationed in Germany. He was a Shriner clown and would also dress up as Santa and Goofy going to several events for children over the years. Kenneth was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
