Judith Ann Donaghue

February 6, 1940 — April 16, 2026

Wentzville, Missouri

Judith "Judy" Ann Donaghue, 86, of New Melle, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength, humor, and unapologetic authenticity. Born on February 6, 1940, Judy lived boldly—she was quick-witted and forthright in the best way, never one to hold back. Those who knew her will remember her candid nature, her perfectly timed yet often unintentional humor, and the deep, abiding love she had for her husband and family.

Judy spent many years working as a registered nurse, a profession that reflected both her resilience and her deep capacity to care for others. She brought skill, candor, and compassion to her work and never hesitated to speak up when it mattered. She said that earning her nursing license in 1972 was the proudest moment of her life. At 32, with four small children at home, she took on the rigorous challenge of nursing school and saw it through-proving, in her own unmistakable manner, that grit and determination could outwork just about anything.

Outside of her career, Judy embraced life in her distinctive way. She enjoyed a wide range of creative pursuits, including crafting, painting, and collecting antiques. She was an accomplished scuba diver with numerous certifications, and an award-winning photographer. In her later years, she found comfort in life's simpler pleasures-settling in with her favorite shows, faithfully keeping up with General Hospital, often with one of her beloved rescue dogs by her side.

Judy is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Kenneth L. Donaghue; her brother, Rich Elliott; her daughters, Donna (Dave) Schumer and Lisa Donaghue Rogers; and her son, Kenneth "Drew" (Hesper) Donaghue, along with other members of her biological family, whom we acknowledge. Judy loved all of her children deeply, embracing them with equal and unwavering devotion, a love she carried regardless of life's circumstances.

Additionally, she was a wonderfully eccentric and fiercely devoted grandmother to 11 grandchildren: Candice (Justin) Klebba, Nikki (Ryan) Brown, Samantha Cross, Madeline (Matthew) Hickerson, Morgan Fritz, Austin Fritz, Cortney Weyburn, Jared Fritz, Blaiz Donaghue, Bryce Donaghue, and Logan Rogers. She was also a great-grandmother to many. Her family will carry forward vivid memories of her candor, individuality, and enduring love.

Judy will be remembered as truly one of a kind-spirited, funny, and entirely herself. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Judy's memory may be made to Five Acres Animal Shelter in St. Charles.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Garden View Care Center for their compassionate care during Judy's final weeks.
