Joyce Elaine Moeser, 84
St. Peters, Missouri
Deceased November 8, 2025

Joyce Elaine Moeser was an accomplished entrepreneur, leader, wife, parent, grandparent, and great-grandparent. She ushered her family through decades of a tumultuous and ever-changing world, protecting and guiding each new generation.

Joyce was born February 8, 1941, in St. Louis to John and Alberta Lowery, the fifth of seven siblings. She grew up between Sunland, California and St. Louis, Missouri. She and her younger brother Jimmy Lowery were constant companions, fiercely loyal to one another. She later welcomed a younger sister, Janet Lynn, who became her best friend. Since she was a young girl, Joyce loved reading; it was her gateway to learning more about the world and understanding the human condition. She was an advanced student and was allowed to skip a grade in primary school. Her favorite book was The Grapes of Wrath, which she felt captured the essence of her childhood. She loved going on adventures with her Aunt Florence and Uncle Eddy, who recognized her precociousness and provided her books, films, and educational materials. Joyce began working as a child, but started her first formal job at 15 in the toy department of Famous Barr in downtown St. Louis. She met her husband, Joe, at 17 while working as a carhop at Steak-n-Shake. They married on November 1, 1958, and welcomed their first child, Peggy Sue, in October 1959.

Joyce was a manager at Watlow Electric, but left to start her own business, Keepsake J.E.M.s, with her daughter. They created hand-sewn dolls and crafts that went on to win several awards and accolades.

Joyce’s greatest quality was her ability to constantly evolve; she never stopped learning, growing, and adapting. She was a champion for justice and an activist in her community, helping her neighbors advocate for better living conditions.

Her greatest pride was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was committed to ensuring they each had the opportunity to experience new things, a place to talk about their worries, and the confidence to be themselves in the world. She raised children who were internationally decorated athletes, successful entrepreneurs, artists, creatives, and strong individualists.

Joyce loved gardening, travelling with her sister, Janet Lynn, doing puzzles, walking, and listening to her favorite artists, including the Platters and Patsy Klein.

She is survived by her husband Joseph Moeser; her children Joseph Moeser Jr. and David Moeser; her brother John Lowery; her brother-in-law Ronnie Williams and sister-in-law Marsha Lowery; her grandchildren Paul Moeser, Rebecka Lee Jackson-Moeser, Lillith Eve Pandora, Ashley Hendrix, Amanda Keating, Danielle Moeser, and Shyana Moeser; and her great-grandchildren Dalton Loopstra, Jarrod Moeser, Bowen Rice, Brian Moeser, Mazzlyn Miller, Myleana Miller, Delilah Phipps, Riley Keating, Leighla Phipps, Lunamora Miller, Lemaq Miller, Penny Moeser, Emily Keating, Maddox Stuhlman and many loving nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her children, Peggy Sue Moeser and Paul Moeser; her siblings Joe-Boy Lowery, Janet Lynn Williams, Joan Rice, Jean Club, and Jimmy Lowery; her sister-in-law Janet Lowery; and her dear friends Kay and Jackie.
