Joyce Gertrude Hunter

Joyce Gertrude Hunter (née Schneider) of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the age of 89.

She is lovingly survived by her children: Denise Cole; Vicky Elanore (Michael) Reiling; and Jimmie (Julie) Hunter. She was a proud grandmother to Leanne, Stacie, Tracie, Marcus, Michael, Casey, Nicole, and Kaylee; great-grandmother to Kalina, Corey, Cody, Cole, Kelyn, Arlo, Dacks, and Evie; and great-great-grandmother to Bentley, Izzy, Opie, Vi, Kinsley, Olivia, KJ, Brody, Carter, Scarlett, Hunter, Emma, Jesse, and Noah. Joyce is also survived by her sister, Sandy Karas, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmie Lee Hunter; her parents, William and Luella Schneider; her sister, Doris Buerk; and her brothers, Sonny and Cookie Schneider.

Joyce had a love for life’s simple joys. She enjoyed bowling, playing softball, and spending time playing bingo. She especially cherished her visits to “the boat,” where she found great enjoyment whether playing games or simply being surrounded by her family. Above all, her greatest passion was her family—her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she devoted her life to caring for and loving them.

Joyce was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
