Joyce Buechler was born in St. Louis on May 24, 1931, to Charles and Catherine Eckert. The eldest of three children, she is survived by her brother, Tom Eckert, as well as nieces and nephews (Kathy, Sue, Phyllis, Tom Jr. and Lou). She is also lovingly remembered by two dear friends, Teresa and Dianne, who welcomed her as part of their families.
Raised in a musical family, Joyce carried a lifelong love of music. Later in life she learned to play the organ and delighted in sharing her music through her association with Lacefield Music.
Joyce retired from Monsanto many years ago and embraced retirement to the fullest. A lifelong learner and a social spirit, she found joy in clubs, activities, and friendships. She especially loved playing cards, bunco, and other games. Her greatest passion was sewing. A talented seamstress, she created beautiful quilts, wall hangings, and machine-embroidered pieces that showcased her creativity and skill.
Joyce was known for her thoughtfulness and gratitude. Even in her final days, when she was mainly unresponsive, she made a point to thank her caregivers for helping her find comfort.
On September 9, 2025, Joyce passed away peacefully. She was blessed with a long and meaningful life and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
