Joseph Gordon Mason, 73, passed away on December 9, 2017, in O’Fallon, Mo.
Joseph, known as “Harley Joe” to all who knew and loved him, was born on Sept. 12, 1944, in Joliet, Ill., the son of Walker J. and Nellie Mason.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who received an honorable discharge after serving his country in Korea. He retired after more than 25 years at MEMC Electronic Materials in St. Peters, Mo.
Joe was a father first and foremost, and his life revolved around his children and grandchildren. He was a Christian who loved mushroom hunting and playing cards with his friends. He will be remembered for his distinctive voice, his devotion to his family, willingness to help anyone in need and his heart of gold. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by daughters Brooke Mason of Troy, Mo., and Breana Mason of O’Fallon, Mo.; brother Brad and wife Anita Mason of Noble, Ill.; sisters Sharon Hough and husband Gene of Marshall, Okla., Donna Russell and husband Jim of Noble, Ill., Glenda Clark of Gaylord, Mich., Vicki Tenney and Woody Garland of Albuquerque, N.M., and Darla Wiehle and husband Greg of Centralia, Ill.; grandchildren Cory Mason, Blake Mason, Dominique Ward, Tristan Hill and Mehki Hill; and lifelong friend Monty Long.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and son Robert Walker Mason.
