Joseph Earl Bohnert, of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Monday, April 14, 2025, at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Shirley Ann (nee Gebhardt) Bohnert for 66 years; cherished son of the late Joseph and Wilma (nee Berkbuegler) Bohnert; devoted father of Brenda M. (Randy) Sanders, Kimberly A. (Wally) Kolkmeier and Bonnie M. (Jerry) Brown; loving grandfather of Chad (Kaysha) Sanders, Benjamin (Annie) Sanders, Dusty (Chelle) Sanders, Wally (Alison) Kolkmeier, Wendy (Corey) Tucker, Gary (Kara) Frick, Adam (Bria) Frick, Jamie Aslin, Ashley (Luke) Schroeder, Justin (Hannah) Brown, Jesse Brown and Mandy Sanders; treasured great-grandfather of 20; dear brother of Norma (the late Herman) Balsman, Linda (Mike) Lopez, David (Rosella) Bohnert and the late Stella (the late Tom) Moll; dear in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Joseph proudly and honorably served in the United States Army. He worked as a letter carrier for the USPS for 35 years in St. Louis and St. Charles.
Joseph Bohnert was a kind and hardworking man who found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep love for the outdoors—whether he was tending to his rose bushes, working in his garden, or riding his John Deere to cut the grass, being outside brought him peace and happiness. A talented woodworker, Joseph enjoyed creating with his hands and took pride in everything he built.
One of his greatest joys was sitting down to a delicious meal lovingly prepared by his wife—something he cherished deeply. He also loved to drive and especially enjoyed trips to the countryside, taking in the beauty of the world around him.
Above all, Joseph valued time with his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a steady presence in the lives of those he loved.
Joseph was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in Joseph's name to St. Joseph Catholic Church of Cottleville the Quilting Association in honor of Shirley and Joseph Bohnert.
