Moscow Mills, Missouri

Joseph M. “Mustang” Bilodeau, of Moscow Mills, MO, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at the age of 69. Beloved husband of Phyllis Bilodeau; cherished son of the late Charles Bilodeau and Custodia Sanches (the late Joe Rose) Rose; devoted father of Chris Bilodeau, Jeff Bilodeau, Melissa “Missy” (Casey) Knight; loving grandfather of Jordan, Natalie, Owen, Kalynn, Cooper, Reagan, Kameren and Landon; dear brother of David (Elaine) Bilodeau, Michael Bilodeau, and Charlie (Amy) Bilodeau; dedicated uncle, cousin and friend.

Joe lived a life defined by faith, service, family, and adventure. A proud patriot, he honorably served his country in the United States Navy for 23 years, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Throughout his military career, he exemplified dedication, integrity, and leadership, earning the respect and admiration of those who served alongside him.

After his military service, Joe continued his career with Boeing before enjoying a well-earned retirement. He remained active in organizations that reflected his values, including his local H.O.G. Chapter and the National Harley Owners Group, the Patriot Guard Riders, the Reserve Officers Association (ROA), and the National Rifle Association (NRA). His faith was the foundation of his life, and he was a devoted member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. He was truly a man of God and country.

Joe was a natural-born leader steadfast, grounded, compassionate, and kind. He possessed quiet strength, unwavering character, and a genuine concern for others. His leadership inspired confidence, and he was deeply respected by his peers, friends, and family.

Above all else, Joe was a devoted husband and a wonderful father. He treasured every opportunity to coach his children's sports teams, encouraging them both on and off the field. An accomplished athlete himself, he became a Massachusetts State Champion and continues to hold a state record.

Joe embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. He loved hunting, shooting, camping, and spending time in the outdoors. He found joy in building and collecting model trains and airplanes and was an avid Star Trek fan. A licensed pilot, he appreciated the freedom of the skies as much as the open road, where he found peace riding his Harley from the unique vantage point of the handlebars.

An avid traveler, Joe explored the world through both his military and professional careers and personal adventures. He visited numerous countries, enjoyed many memorable cruises, and never outgrew his love for the magic of Disney.

Joe's legacy is one of unwavering faith, honorable service, devoted love for his family, and a life lived with purpose, courage, and compassion. He touched countless lives through his leadership, generosity, and friendship. Joe was dearly loved and will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he is no longer with us, his example, his values, and the memories he created will continue to inspire those who loved him for generations to come.

Memorials may be made in Joe's name to American Brain Tumor Association and BuckIt! Just Live Courageously.
