John Miles Gilbert

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Miles was a 1933 graduate of Washington University School of Engineering and later obtained an architect license. He designed many churches in Illinois including Union Methodist Church, Greek Orthodox in East St. Louis. He was president of the Belleville Optimist Club in Belleville and a member of the Signal Hill Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Dr. W.W. Gilbert and Maude Gilbert (nee: Miles), his brother Wallace and sister Francis. He is mourned by his wife of 69 years, Velda (nee: Wake) of Keytesville, MO; one son and daughter-in-law Richard and Sherry Gilbert of Wentzville, one granddaughter Pamela Kutz (Todd) of Cape Girardeau, MO, One grandson – Scott Gilbert (Michelle) of Phoenix, AZ, One great-granddaughter Hailey Kutz, one great-grandson, Kaleb Gilbert and several nieces.
