Jodie Marie Grossmann, of Dardenne Prairie, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the age of 18 months.
Jodie was the cherished daughter of Josiah Mark Grossmann and Courtney Marie Grossmann. She was the beloved little sister of Olivia and Peter Grossmann, and proud big sister of Maisy Grossmann. She was preceded in death by her unborn sibling.
She is lovingly remembered by her paternal grandparents, Mark and Martha Jane Grossmann; her maternal grandparents, Gregory and Joan St. John; her great-grandmother, Virginia Grossmann; her aunt, Lindsay St. John; her uncle and aunt, Scott and Kara St. John; her uncle, Ryan Parker-St. John, her aunt and uncle, Janie and Ethan Mozingo; her uncle, James Grossmann; and many other beloved relatives and friends whose lives she touched in her short but beautiful life.
Jodie was a bundle of light, a heritage from the Lord, a reward from Him. (Ps. 127:3). She had bright, beautiful blue eyes and looked so much like her older sister. She had the joy of the Lord, and her laughter was contagious. She had a special love for dogs and delighted everyone with her expressions. She was just beginning to string together little sentences with her sweet, clear voice. We will always remember her joyful little "aye" (Hi!), her requests for a "hug-ee," her excited "bo-da-da" for banana, and the way she'd shake her tiny finger, saying, "No, no, no, no," as her siblings chased after her.
She adored her mommy and daddy and treasured every moment with her brother and sisters. She especially loved dancing with her sister, giggling with her brother, and showering her new baby sister with affection.
Jodie loved to run and was surprisingly fast for such little legs. A favorite game of hers was to wait patiently by the front door for someone to say “Ready, set, go!” and she would run as fast as she could with a big smile into mommy or daddy’s arms, over and over again. We trust that she is now wrapped in the arms of Jesus. Hold her, Jesus, until we will again.
She loved being held, cuddled, and read to, sharing Eskimo kisses with Mommy before naptime and falling asleep each night while Daddy rocked her to "Wana Baraka," a Swahili lullaby celebrating God's blessings.
Although words cannot measure the depth of this loss, Jodie's life was a precious gift. She filled our home with laughter, wonder, and so much love in her short time with us. She was dearly loved, and we long for the day we will see her again.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4
You have kept count of my tossings, put my tears in your bottle. Psalm 56:8
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. Revelation 21:4
