Joan Lee Pretti

Joan Lee (Loar) Pretti passed away peacefully in Marion, Iowa on May 18th, 2023, at the age of 86.

Joan was born on March 21st, 1937, in St. Louis, Missouri to Charles and Rovella (Lummert) Loar. She married Joseph Anthony Pretti, on October 11, 1958. In the early 1960’s the couple moved to Florissant, Missouri to raise their family.

While working from home as a mother to their son Joseph Charles Pretti, Joan also worked part time for Sears. She was generous with her time and volunteered at Sacred Heart School helping in the cafeteria. Joan’s beloved husband Joseph A Pretti passed away in 1989. After Joe’s death, Joan moved to St. Charles, Missouri. She stayed active by working for a local catering business into her seventies. In 2019, Joan moved to Marion, Iowa to be closer to her son.

Joan loved to be surrounded by people and was passionate about her faith, her family and her friends. Joan’s amazing personality and generous, caring heart quickly turned acquaintances into lifelong friends.

Joan is survived by her son Joseph Charles Pretti and fiancee’ Lisa Rowe of Marion, IA; granddaughter Kristen (William III) Bamford; grandson Nicholas Pretti (Stacy de la Portilla); great-grandsons William IV, Finnegan and Pippin Bamford; brother Larry Loar and his children Michael, Dawn and Shawn along with many, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Antony Pretti, her parents Rovella and Charles Loar and many other family and friends including a very close cousin Carol Sue Zagarri.
