Jerry James Jones,1935 - 2026

Jerry James Jones, 90, of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026.

Born on August 27, 1935, in Frankfort, Kansas, Jerry was the son of Emmy (Smith) Jones and Marvin Jones. He graduated from Frankfort High School in 1953 and went on to attend the University of Kansas, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1958 as part of the ROTC program.

Shortly before joining the United States Air Force, Jerry obtained his pilot’s license — a lifelong source of pride, and a reflection of his adventurous spirit. During his military service, he was stationed in several locations including Morocco, an experience that broadened his perspective and deepened his love of travel.

Following his service, Jerry began a distinguished 32-year career as an Aeronautical Engineer with McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing), where he contributed his engineering expertise to the aviation industry he loved.

Jerry was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church of St. Charles, where he volunteered faithfully for many years. He enjoyed traveling, playing golf and basketball, and spending time with his family and friends. Known for his steady character, intelligence, and quiet dedication, Jerry lived a life defined by service, faith, and commitment, as evidenced by his many years of teaching Sunday School to second graders, serving as a counselor for the youth group, and numerous mission trips.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Claudette (née Summers) Jones of 57 years; his sister-in-law, Jane (Young) Jones; his sons, Roger Buenemann and his wife Nancy; David Jones and his wife Jennifer; and by his cherished granddaughters, Mia Jones, Macy Jones, Anne Ruffino, and Allyson Ruffino.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmy and Marvin Jones; and his brother, Lanny Jones.

Jerry will be remembered for his integrity, his love of aviation, and his dedication to family, friends and community.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to First United Methodist Church of St Charles.

There will be a graveside service immediately following the funeral service on Friday, March 6th  at United Methodist Wesleyan Cemetery.
