Jerry Glen Cook

Jerry Glen Cook, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the age of 86. He was born in East St. Louis, Illinois on June 2, 1940 to the late Glen and Glenna Cook (Mouser). Beloved husband of Jackie Cook and first wife, the late Rebecca (Hale) Cook; devoted father of Cynthia Cook, Bob Cook and Linda (Rich) Smith; loving grandfather of Tyler Cook, Becca Cook, Jennifer (Mark) Mease, Katelyn Smith, Lauren (Donavan) Pope, Sarah Cook, and Carson Smith; treasured great-grandfather of Mason Pope; dear brother of David (Joan) Cook, Martha (Ken) Rimell, the late Peggy (Jim survives) Hamman and the late Jeffrey Cook; brother in law of Jonathon Nixon and Dan Wright; loving uncle and friend to many.

Jerry served as a medic in the Army Reserves and the National Guard. He worked for Ford Motor Company for 30 years, retiring in 1999. After retirement, he volunteered as a guide at the Daniel Boone home, in Defiance. He enjoyed singing alongside his wife, Jackie, in the St. Peter’s Choral Society and Chamber Choir. He was honored with a membership in the Community/Church Honor Choir in Jefferson City.

In his mid-40’s, Jerry discovered a passion for running that lasted into his mid-70’s. He completed numerous 5k races, 10k races, and proudly finished a Full Marathon in St. Louis. He was active with the St. Peters Track Club, St. Charles County Striders, YMCA Running Club, Fleet Feet Snowball Series, Marathon Sports races, River to River Relay, and the St. Charles Golden Games. When running was no longer possible, he stayed active through biking, yoga and walking. He was an enthusiastic fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball and football, the Rams, and college basketball.

Known for never meeting a stranger, he was kind, dependable, generous, and quick to make people laugh. Whether a friend, family member, or neighbor was in need, he was always there with a helping hand, a warm smile, and a caring heart. He especially cherished his time with his family and loved cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events and activities. Jerry was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
