Jeanne Marie Meyer Underwood December12, 1945 –December 26,2025
Born at the end of WWII, Jeanne ushered in the Boomer Generation. After recently celebrating her 80th birthday, she passed from her earthly life quickly at her own home, on her own terms. She had recently been hospitalized but was able to celebrate Christmas at home with her family.
Jeanne was born in Erie, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Meyer (nee Hultquist) and Joseph William Meyer. From the age of 12, she called St. Louis home. The family had relocated there for health treatment for Jeanne. She was able to return to public school her senior year and graduated from Normandy High School in 1963.She then pursued her education at UMSL and graduated in their second graduating class in 1968 with a degree in Sociology.
Jeanne was employed by the State of Missouri Dept of Social Services for 35 years. She worked her way up and held supervisory and leadership roles with both Family Service and Child Support Enforcement. At the time of her retirement, she was District 5 (area which included St. Louis and St. Charles County) Supervisor for Child Support Enforcement. She was also a past president of the State of Missouri Child Support Organization.
Jeanne was married to Gene Underwood for 15 years. They maintained an amicable friendship after their divorce. Jeanne stated that “people were her hobby” and she leaves behind numerous friends from all chapters of her life. She was a member of ESA service sorority, past president of Rho Chi Chapter. She always focused on friendship, service and helping others.
She's survived by her sister Bonnie Meyer Tesson and brother-in-law George Tesson, dear niece Nicole Tesson (Michael Levinson), nephew Cameron Tesson and great nephews Cory and Grant Levinson and numerous lifelong friends.
Memorial Contributions can be made in her honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or National Scoliosis Foundation.
