Covington-McCoy, Jean M., (nee: Newsham) age 89, of St. Charles, Missouri, singing with the Angels on Thursday, January 28, 2016. Devoted wife of 54 years to the late Herbert L. McCoy. Cherished mother of Elaine (John) Naeger, Edward (Karon) McCoy, Diane (Don) Leahart, and Christine (Todd) Knight. Adoring grandmother of Matthew (Tami) Niswonger, and Emily and William Walters. Loving great-grandmother of Robert, Michael, Thomas, and Kaylee Niswonger. Survived by her precious sister Brenda (Jack) Reuter. Preceded in death by brothers Ted and Frank Newsham. Dear aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend to all who knew her. Preceded in death by her second husband John R. Covington. She was born July 24, 1926 in Liverpool, England to Edward and Ada Newsham. Jean was a WWII bride who immigrated to Herb’s home town, St. Louis, MO. She and Herb led a faithful and active church life. She gave her whole heart and soul to caring for her family and friends. Those who knew her found her always full of song and joy. Jean was an accomplished seamstress and crafter, and many of us are blessed with gifts from her hands.
