Jean Cottrill Borders Farrelly

Jean Cottrill Borders Farrelly, of Maryland Heights, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 28, 2022 at the age of 76.  Beloved daughter of the late George and Dorris Cottrill; loving wife of the late Peter R. Farrelly, Sr; devoted mother of Guy (Marisa) Borders, Jr., Susan Borders, and Peter (Tina) Farrelly, Jr.; cherished grandmother of Ava Borders, Kate Borders Smith, Sarah Gray Smith, Wilder Farrelly and Landis Farrelly; and dear sister-in-law of Ron Scheffler.  

Jean was also preceded in death by her first husband, Guy Thompson Borders, Sr., and her sister, Joyce Stone Scheffler. 

Jean was a wonderful housewife and dedicated mother to her three children.  She loved caring for babies and worked at a daycare for many years once her children were grown.  In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling with her father on business trips and going on family vacations on her father’s plane.  

Jean enjoyed the arts, and she was in an art club and visited many art galleries and museums. She was an avid reader who enjoyed reading The Bible, biographies, and history articles.  She liked researching facts on just about anything, and computing numbers just for fun.  In her spare time, she enjoyed sketching and decorating.  She could usually be found cleaning, organizing, and keeping her house nice and tidy. 

Jean had a great sense of humor and liked sending jokes to everyone on a regular basis.  She loved shopping at the Dollar Store, especially for her holiday decorations.  She preferred to eat out rather than her own cooking, but she was a creative cook when she prepared meals for her family. And, she always enjoyed candy apples.  Jean liked playing cards and was in a Bridge Club.  She also had a lot of fun putting puzzles together.   

Jean was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  Memorial contributions may be made in Jean's name to Humane Society of Missouri.
