Janet Gail Sunder (nee Fletcher)

Born November 25, 1937. She was the only daughter of the late Clarence Gale Fletcher and Adelaide Fletcher (nee Hoelscher). She passed away November 16, 2025, with family at her side. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Harry B. Sunder. Janet is survived by her daughters, Gail (Bill) Hunter and Joan (Scott) Boessen, and her three granddaughters, Jenna, Jane, and Julia Boessen.

Attended Bush Elementary School and graduated from Jennings High School in 1955. Janet went on to Sanford-Brown where she earned a secretarial certificate.

Janet worked at Monsanto as a secretary in the engineering department. During her time there, she met the love of her life, Harry Sunder. They were married on November 14, 1964, and raised two daughters.

Janet and Harry began their lives together in Muscatine, Iowa before moving to Hazelwood, MO and eventually settling in St. Charles, where Janet and Harry began their family. Janet was a devoted mother. She worked as a stay at home mother for many years and volunteered at St. Peters Catholic School. Her faith was a guiding force in her life and she was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. There, she joyfully assisted in Vacation Bible School, earning the affectionate nickname “The Cookie Lady”. Her service extended throughout the church community. She worked in the church office, served faithfully on the Altar Guild, and was dedicated to sewing projects that supported the congregation and those in need. Her steady hands, generous heart, and gentle spirit touched many lives. Her faith stayed with her even leading up to her death. Often when she woke, she felt she needed to set up for communion.

Janet was the foundation of her family. Traditions were very important to her, and she took joy in passing them down to her daughters and granddaughters. She knew the importance of community – passing down her sewing knowledge, keeping up with friends over the years, and always having a smile on her face. She cherished traveling and sightseeing with Harry and her granddaughters. She also loved bowling and treasured her Wednesday league with her dear friends on the “Gutter Dusters” team, where laughter and companionship were always guaranteed.

Janet knew the best was yet to come with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

See you soon, Toots.
