Janet Ruth Potts

Janet Ruth Potts (nee Moore), of Rocky Mount, MO, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late James "Jim" Potts; cherished daughter of the late Harry and Ellen May Moore; devoted mother of the late James "Doug" Potts; his wife, Denise; Melinda (Tim) O'Shea, Regina (John) Garofalo, and Dave (Helana) Potts; treasured grandmother of Michael Potts, Andrew Potts, Melissa O'Shea, Timothy (Sarah) O'Shea, John (Kate) Garofalo, and Carlee (Chase Krehmeyer) Garofalo; loving great grandmother of Jay Garofalo, Max Garofalo, and Jack O'Shea; and bonus great grandsons Connor, Tucker and Owen; dear aunt of Daniel DeWitt. She leaves behind countless friends and neighbors who she loved dearly.

Born and raised in West Virginia, Janet was a graduate of Morgantown High School. After moving to Missouri, she became an active member of her church and a valued volunteer at Hope House. She was the Matriarch of Jackson Branch Cove at Lake of the Ozarks. She loved her family and looked out for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Janet enjoyed traveling with husband, Jim, flying to many different destinations together. She loved to camp and instilled the love of nature in her children. She was a great baker, famous for her pies--especially her crust--and she made family gatherings memorable with delicious meals. Janet enjoyed listening to reggae music and she would tap her foot to the beat. She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and would cheer for them on game days. Janet was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
