James "Butch" T. Whitworth Jr.

James “Butch” T. Whitworth, Jr., of O Fallon, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 23, 2026, at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Paulette (Wife) Whitworth; cherished son of the late James T., Sr. and Dorothy Whitworth; devoted father of Mathew (Hansen) Whitworth, Emily (Steve) Schaefer, and Joshua (Randi) Whitworth; loving grandfather of Matt, Kanyon, Mitchell, Rowen, Rebekah Ann, and Sarah; great-grandfather of Conner, Jane, and April; dear brother of Chris (Len) Poli and Donna Featherston.

James, fondly known as Butch, proudly served his country in the United States Army, completing a tour in Vietnam and carrying the lessons of service and sacrifice with him throughout his life. A devoted member of Vietnam Veterans Chapter 458 in St. Peters and AmVets Post 106, he remained steadfast in his support of fellow veterans, faithfully organizing events for POWs and veterans’ groups with dedication and heart. Beyond his military service, Butch found joy in hunting and fishing, was known for his famous homemade deer sausage, and he generously supported the Children’s Miracle Network. Known as a St. Charles County Go-Kart legend, he brought energy and camaraderie wherever he went. Above all, Butch was a terrific father and devoted provider for his children and grandchildren, always placing family at the center of his world. Butch was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorials may be made in Butch’s name to Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
