Emblem

James Clifford Stagner Jr., of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Friday, October 16, 2026, at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Hazel Stagner; cherished son of the late Florence Aileen (nee: Plank) and James Clifford Stagner Sr.; devoted father of Jacqueline (William) Jennings, James "Jimmy" Clifford Stagner III, Rachel (Doug) Vincent, Rebecca Stagner, Lana Estrada, Christina (Richard) Turner, Desirae Smith, and the late Melissa Ijames; loving grandfather of 26 and great grandfather of 29; dear brother of Sharon Bakies, Cathy (Grant) Shawcroft, Elizabeth "Beth" Bowers, the late Ronald Stagner, and the late Michael Stagner; treasured uncle and friend to many.

Jim proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, receiving a Purple Heart, and was a true patriot who deeply loved his country. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #5077, a member of NA for 44 years, and earned a black belt through the World Kuk Sool Association. He was also a member of the YMCA. Jim was a loving, generous, and giving man who cherished his family above all else. He especially enjoyed the holidays and gathering with family and friends. He loved celebrating the Fourth of July, proudly displaying flags throughout his home, passing out candy to children on Halloween, and decorating for Christmas. Jim had a special love for nutcrackers and collected nearly 200, which he proudly displayed each Christmas. His greatest joy was having his family together at home to celebrate special occasions and create lasting memories. Jim was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made in James’ name to Veteran Crisis Line (Veteran Support).
