James Lee “Jim” Boyer, Sr. of Winfield, Missouri, passed away at the age of 81 on Sunday, June 28, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Madeline Boyer; and his brother, Robert (Bette) Boyer.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Jean Boyer; his children, James (Laura Overmann) Boyer Jr. and Pam (Tony) Fallert; his grandchildren, Kelly Fallert, Christopher Fallert; and step grandson, Brennan Overmann
Jim was a dedicated firefighter and retired as Captain of Creve Coeur Fire District. He served the community for more than 25 years and valued the friendships he made during that time. He was also a long-standing member of the Winfield Lions Club in his younger years.
Jim grew up in University City. After graduating from Mercy High School, his parents owned a resort on the Mississippi River in Winfield, Missouri. It was there that he met his wife, Shirley. He enjoyed boating, being on the water, and always looked forward to his trips to the Lake of the Ozarks. He and his wife had great times on their river trips which sent them to Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, Minnesota, and all along the Mississippi. His passion for boating and being on the river led Jim to join the Lewis & Clark Expedition Reenactment Commission, where he also volunteered as a shipwright building the boats.
Jim became a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed watching their games with Shirley. He was very much a handyman and particularly enjoyed woodworking projects. He and his brother even built their own boat together when they were younger. Jim was dearly loved and will missed by all who knew him.
