HOLLIS, James (Jim) R.went to his heavenly home Monday January 1, 2007. Born August 27, 1922 to Claude and Bertie (Bennett) Hollis near Couch, Missouri, he Married Lois L. Crowell on December 10, 1941 and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Survived by wife, son, James L. Hollis; grandson LT James Robert Hollis, MD, USN; two sisters, Della Verdict and Marie Clark; brother Perry Hollis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sister, Leta Parrott and brothers, Doris (Buck) Hollis and Joseph Hollis. He served as Navy Radioman during WWII D-Day invasion assisting ship movement in English Channel. On D-Day+3 he set up land based communications directing supply ships in support of inland operations. Worked 39 years in various roles for Wagner Electric St. Louis, retiring in 1978 as Manager Packaging Engineering. Jack of most trades; master of many. But, his specialty was giving of himself in making lives of family and friends better. He enjoyed a long retirement hunting, fishing, gardening, and late model auto body repair. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. But, as a poem requests
