James Walter “Jim” Hamer, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Friday, July 3, 2026 at the age of 83. Loving husband of Rebecca Hamer; beloved son of the late Lewis and Getha Hamer; devoted father of Dennis Hamer, Dwayne (Schnequka) Hamer, and Dominique Jones; cherished grandfather of Jada Jones, Tianna Jones, Raven Jones, Josiah Jones, Paris Jones, Deneishia (Chris) Barry, and Elijah Hamer; treasured great-grandfather of Kainan; dear brother of Minnie Hoskins and Doris Richardson. Jim is also preceded in death by his brothers, Ottie Hamer and Lewis Hamer, Jr.
Jim proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army, carrying the values of service and dedication throughout his life. A man of deep and abiding faith, he faithfully served as a deacon, taught Sunday School for many years, and participated in mission trips to The Gambia in West Africa, where he shared his compassion and commitment to helping others.
Jim found joy in tending his garden, spending time on the golf course, and meeting new people. With a warm and welcoming spirit, he never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went. Above all, Jim cherished his family. Married to his beloved wife for 62 wonderful years, he was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and steadfast provider. His family was his greatest joy and the center of his world.
Jim's kindness, unwavering faith, generous heart, and love for those around him will be remembered always. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in James's name to Ridgecrest Baptist Church in support of missions.
