James William Herman Hafer

James William Herman Hafer of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Friday, July 11, 2025, at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Leidy) Hafer; devoted son of the late Charles and Dorothy L. (nee Wagemann) Hafer; cherished father of Jimmy Hafer and Sara (Brad) Hagemeyer; loving grandfather of Alexis (Bryant) Parrish and Brittany (Dillon) Porzel; treasured Great-Gampy of Sadie Jane and Rylee Ray; dear brother of the late Janie Hafer.

A proud Army veteran, Jim carried the values of service and integrity throughout his life. He found joy in golf, traveling, and fishing—pastimes he cherished and shared with many.

James "Jim" Hafer was a Graduate from Westminster College in 1963, and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He proudly continued his family’s legacy by taking over the family business, becoming a partner in the Hafer Market on Second Street, which later became known as Hedges and Hafer Market. A dedicated member of his community, Jim was affiliated with several organizations including the St. Charles Lodge 241 AF & AM, Elks Lodge 2517, Moolah Temple Shrine, Bogey Hills Country Club, and the Jaycee Business Owner Club.

James was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
