James Edward Ellege

April 19, 1930 — February 5, 2022

James Edward Ellege April 19, 1930-February 5, 2022

Ellege, James (Jim) Edward passed away peacefully on February 5, 2022, at the age of 91. Beloved husband of Dorsie Ellege (nee: Boyd); devoted father of Bridget (Harold) Votaw, Robin (Bill) Phillips, and James K. (Tammy) Ellege; cherished grandfather of Joshua (Brandon) Selig-Votaw, Jamie (Brian) Pyle, Kayla Ellege, Shawn (Alicia) Votaw, and Kelsey Ellege; loving great-grandfather of Oliver and Everly Pyle, Kyler Selig-Votaw, and Harper Votaw; brother to Ronnie (Mary Lou) Ellege and Janice (late Steve) Subracko; brother-in-law to Marjorie Foster and Joan Ellege. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Beulah Ellege, mother-in-law Anna Boyd, his sisters Peggy Ellege and Rena Busch, and brothers Jerry, Weldon, Leland, and Vernon Ellege. He was a devoted, loving, and dedicated uncle, cousin, and friend.

Jim’s faith was important to him. His faith was strengthened through his fellowship with Christian believers at First Baptist Church of Berkeley, Mary Ann Baptist Church, Edmundson Road Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of St. Ann. He was an ordained deacon and a faithful servant with his wife at his side. He cherished the friendship and memories he had with members at each church from the ball fields to the fellowship halls to the Pep Club trips across the country.

Jim loved playing softball, coaching his son in Little League baseball, watching his girls (daughters and granddaughters) play ball, bowling, playing cards, and spending time at the Lake with family and friends. His true love was his family and he will be greatly missed by everyone.

Jim donated his body to Washington University. A memorial gathering/service will take place on April 9th at 10:30 am with a service to begin at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of St. Ann. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of St. Ann, 3714 Wright Avenue, St. Ann, MO 63074.
