James David Bruton

James David Bruton, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the age of 90. Loving husband of Mary Ann Bruton for 61 years; beloved son of the late Ernest Jackson “Jack” Bruton and Mable Bruton; devoted father of Eric Bruton and Scott Bruton; cherished grandfather of William Taylor Bruton; and uncle of Sandra Kay Heinetz. Preceded in death by his brother William Jackson Bruton, his sister Margaret Jane Eddington, and his nephew William Jackson “Jack” Godier.

James Was born and raised in Bowling Green, MO and graduated from Bowling Green Highschool. He earned a BA from Coe College and an MA in music education from Vandercook College of Music.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force.  He taught instrumental music in Hobart Township, IN and the Pattonville School District (MO), for which he taught 33 years before retiring in 2001.  He was a member of the Town and County (formerly Brentwood) Symphony Orchestra for over forty years and a regular contributor to the music programs of Bridgeton Christian Church and Arlington United Methodist Church.

James loved talking with just about anyone, enjoyed telling and hearing jokes, and was always in search of samples in the grocery store.  He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

James’ family will hold a Memorial Service sometime during the last week of March 2024.
