James Daniel Boyer, of O'Fallon, MO, passed away Friday, September 29, 2023, at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Elizabeth A. Boyer, cherished son of the late Cyrus and Mary Boyer; devoted father of Joy (Patrick) Murphy; loving grandfather of Presley Murphy; dear brother of Joan (Ed (Late)) Lourance and Wayne (Carole (Late)) Boyer; uncle to many nieces and nephews. For 45 years, he was a dedicated member of Overland Baptist Church before becoming a cherished member of Dardenne Baptist Church. James, happily married to the love of his life, Elizabeth, for an impressive 65 years, initially met her on a blind date. His professional journey spanned 37 years, starting at McDonald Douglas and culminating in his retirement from Boeing. James served his country in the Army for two years, specializing as a clerk typist, and displayed his athletic prowess by playing basketball for both the Army and Southwest Missouri State. A notable achievement was on February 8, 1955, when he set the Missouri state record for the highest points scored in a high school basketball game—93 points. His passion for sports continued as he maintained an impressive average of 37 points per high school basketball game. A man devoted to God, family, and country, James found joy in singing quartet gospel music and demonstrated his skills as an avid bowler, achieving a perfect 300 game. His love for golf led him to work at the Falls Golf Course from 2002 until his passing.

James was known for his ever-cheerful disposition, making friends easily and offering help to anyone in need. Even in his eighties, he enjoyed annual trips to Disney World with his family, fearlessly riding roller coasters. His daughter and granddaughter held a special place in his heart, being the pride and joy of his life. James took immense pride in his loving Christian family and found true happiness in singing gospel music. Additionally, he had a green thumb, enjoying gardening and cultivating tomatoes. James will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, joy, and unwavering devotion to his loved ones.
