Jackie “Jack” Mertz

September 12, 1941 — March 3, 2022

Jackie "Jack" Mertz passed away on March 3, 2022 peacefully surrounded by loved ones.  Beloved husband of Catherine "Cathy" Mertz (nee Bowen); loving son of the late Erwin George and Marie Catherine Mertz; dear father and father-in-law of Craig (Susan) Mertz, Tad Mertz, Marie (Stephen) Jackson, and Kyle (Angela) Mertz; dear brother of the late Frohna Hollensworth, Ruth Lauck, Kenneth Mertz, Delores Dinnella, Etta Mertz, Leonard Mertz, Norma Colbert, Richard Mertz, Melvin Mertz, and Robert "Bobbie" Mertz; our dear grandfather to Dillon Mertz, Michael Mertz, Jacob Mertz, Maggie Mertz, Blake Jackson, Cole Jackson, and Ella Mertz; Also surviving in-laws of Carol Mertz, Charlie Dinnella, Shirley Mertz, and Ken Colbert; and dear uncle, great uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

Jack proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After retiring from Borden Decorative Products of 22 years he worked at Holiday Inn and Avis Rent-a-car. He was a proud father and grandfather, loyal Mizzou Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals fan, avid bowler, and an officer in the Gateway Guppy Association and a judge for the IFGA. During his retirement, he loved fishing, putting together puzzles, and playing cards with his grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or BoysTown.
