Iris Irene Schultz passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8th, 2025, at the age of 92.
Born in a small, Finnish archipelago village to parents Simo and Taimi, she spent her childhood in Turku with her sister Anneli.
Upon completing upper secondary school, she concluded her formal education at finishing school in Lucerne, Switzerland and upon graduation, she attended the Märthaskolan Dress Design and Tailoring School in Stockholm, Sweden.
Now a young lady, she met and married her husband Matti and started a family.
In 1967, the family immigrated to the United States of America, and established a home first in Seattle and then in the St. Louis area.
Throughout her career she worked in dress design, tailoring, alterations and finally as a furrier at Neiman Marcus.
Iris was the loving wife of her husband Matti, a devoted mother to her children Katarina (Cameron), Jan, and Eero, and a remarkable Mummo to her grandchildren Alex, Nate and Pia.
Her overflowing kindness and “sisu”, even in her last moments on earth, brought smiles and joy to every life she touched.
Her fondness towards a small, green railroad cabin in a remote Alaskan peninsula characterized her thirst for exploration and spirit of adventure.
As a gifted hostess and talented chef, she embraced the challenge of preparing special meals to celebrate every occasion with family and friends.
Her home was full of love, happiness, and the scent of cardamom. Her spirit will forever live on within her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions may be made in Iris's name to Living Lord Lutheran Church, Lake St. Louis, MO
