Ira Francis Obrist of Town and Country, MO, on Saturday November 4, 2017, at the age of 91. Beloved husband of Patricia L. Obrist, preceded in death by his first wife, the late Barbara Ellen Obrist; cherished son of the late John William Obrist and Maude Obrist; devoted father of Stephen M. (Donna) Obrist, and Patricia S. (Kenneth) Carlisle, and step-father of Suzanne (Albert Crook) Shenkman, and Kenneth Shenkman; loving grandfather of Michael (Stephanie) Obrist, Jennifer (David) Cisneros, Christina (Ariel) Mendoza, Joshua (Shannon) Carlisle, Henry and Juliette Crook; treasured great-grandfather of McKayla Obrist, Malena Obrist, Mika Obrist, and Aden Obrist, Ashton Penrod, Gabriella Saravia, Clayton Carlisle, and Camryn Carlisle; great-great grandfather of A.J. Thorpe; dear uncle of Sandra (Kent) Phillips. Ira is preceded in death by his siblings Lucille Hummel and John Obrist. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Teddy.
Ira proudly served his country with honor in the United States Navy, on the USS Ranger – CV4 in World War II. He enjoyed golfing, painting, doing crosswords, cooking, and was a very accomplished carpenter. He loved to play the piano, the organ, and the violin, and he loved to sing. Ira will be remembered for his easygoing nature and great sense of humor, and was a devoted and loving husband to his treasured wife. He was deeply loved, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
