Ingrid Elizabeth Stone

August 18, 1940 — February 14, 2010

Ingrid Elizabeth Stone died unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 14th, 2010. She was born August 18th, 1940 to August and Babette Schreiner in Furth Germany. As a child she survived the loss of her twin brother, a sister, WWII, and a serious economic depression. These events shaped her into the woman she became. In 1959 she moved to the United States newly married to an American soldier. She had hopes and dreams of a new and better life. She learned English, earned an education, embraced the American Dream but never lost sight of her roots. She had two daughters and dedicated her life to them. For several years, she was a stay at home mom focusing on raising her daughters and keeping an immaculately clean house. Ingrid began her personal career caring for the elderly in a nursing home. She spent endless hours caring for others and making sure that everyone had a good day. Shortly thereafter, she began working for Special School District . She committed 29 years of her life caring for children with special needs. She loved her job and every child she ever taught. She found pure happiness in teaching and seeing her students succeed at the smallest things in life. She retired from Special School District at the age of 63. We don't know how she did it but somewhere she also began working for Walgreens and managed to work two jobs for more than 20 years. Through her hard work and commitment to others, many times she gave too much of herself. She was always willing to help others but struggled with accepting help. She made every effort to be kind to others, waving at strangers from her front porch rocker and offering words of encouragement to her family and dear friends. She had a pure and caring heart and was always willing to make others feel welcomed. She will be truly missed by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother Babette Schreiner, 1 brother, and 1 sister all from Farnbach , Germany. She is survived in death by her daughters Sandra Stout- Rocklin CA, Michelle Karow- Superior, MT, son -in-laws Jeff Stout and Brett Karow. Two grandsons Brett Spangler and Cole Karow, granddaughter-in-law Lorena Spangler and two great granddaughters Kailie and Sienna Spangler.
