Moscow Mills

Herbert (Herb) Eugene Miller, 64, of Moscow Mills, Missouri, passed away on April 9, 2026.

Herb was born on April 21, 1961, in Jerseyville, Illinois. He lived a life full of experiences, strong opinions, and a personality that was impossible to ignore. Herb was known for being a stubborn man set in his ways, but those who knew him best also knew the heart behind that stubbornness. He loved his family deeply and, in his own way, made sure they knew it. Herb spoke his mind, stood firm in what he believed, and lived life the way he chose.

For many years, Herb worked for Amega Mobile Homes, where he spent his time setting up and tearing down mobile homes. He was a hardworking man who knew many trades and was not afraid of a hard day’s work. Outside of work, Herb loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, ginseng hunting, and rock hunting. Some of his happiest moments were spent doing those things and being surrounded by his grandchildren. He also loved listening to hard rock and country music. His most used saying was always, “You think you’re hot snot, but all you are is a cold booger.”

Herb was known for being a stubborn man who was set in his ways, but that was part of what made him so unique. He was always himself, no matter if you liked it or not. That was simply who he was, and it was never going to change. The people who knew him best understood that his honesty and authenticity were part of what made him memorable.

He is survived by his long-time partner of 40 years, Deborah Graves. Over those years they built a life together and raised a family: his children, Michael Miller, Ashley Miller, and Nicole Miller. And his stepchildren, Charles Graves and Sherri Graves Weber. He is also survived by his brothers: Earsie (Danny) Miller, Jeff Miller, and his sisters, Deborah Wyhs (Miller) and Melissa Miller, and extended family members and friends who will remember him and the impact he had on their lives. He was especially proud of his growing family of 11 grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.

Herb was preceded in death by his father and mother, Earsie and Hazel (Seeman) Miller; his brothers, Forest Miller, Dennis Miller, and Douglas Miller; his sister, Betty Miller; and his nephew, Jerry Wyhs.

Though his absence leaves a deep and painful void, Herb’s life leaves behind a legacy that will not be forgotten. He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. His voice, his laughter, his stubborn spirit, and the lessons he taught in his own unshakable way will continue to live on through all who were lucky enough to know him. The love he gave, the memories he created, and the mark he left on this world will remain forever a part of those he touched. Rest easy, Herb. Your work here is done, but your story will be carried on always.
