Henrietta “Hank” Sue Shine

May 10, 1942 — March 20, 2022

Henrietta “Hank” Sue Shine (nee Shapiro), age 79, of Saint Charles, MO., passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022. Henrietta was born May 10, 1942, in St. Louis, MO. Beloved Daughter of the late Ben and Jean Shapiro. Loving sister to Gilbert Shapiro and Steven Shapiro. Married to L. Joseph Shine, April 13, 1957! (Friday the 13th)

At a young age in 1957 Henrietta met Joseph Shine, they fell in love and quickly eloped. Against all odds, together, they showed the power of love, patience, commitment, and perseverance to be happily married for 65 years.

Hank touched the heart of every person she ever met. She brought joy everywhere she went and made everyone feel incredibly special. Her personality was most inviting, and her sense of humor added quite the special touch. Hank’s favorite holiday was Christmas, and no adult or child was going home disappointed. Her biggest stress in life was making sure her house and tree was magically decorated. Make no mistake, she put the “Christ” in Christmas. Hank had a great love for animals! There was never a stray that could not call her house home. She took in everything from dogs, cats, ferrets, raccoons, and even a turkey, that all lived under her roof. She did not stop there; she took in human strays too. If you needed a place to stay, she was there for you. She loved helping people and not only had seen the good in them but brought out the good in everyone. She did not just have a lot of friends; she had a lot of great friends. If someone needed advice, they were calling Hank. Her common sense was off the charts and when she spoke, people listened. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren! Nothing gave her more pleasure than family and having them all together. With so many, her time management was amazing because she did not miss many games, recitals, graduations, or birthdays.

To say her family and friends will miss her is an understatement. It was said that Henrietta was unselfish to a fault often neglecting the needs for herself for the needs and well-being of her family and friends.

Henrietta is survived by Husband, Louis Joseph Shine, Jr., Son, Kevin Michael (Julie) Shine, Son, Patrick Dennis (Susan) Shine, Son, Thomas Joseph (Tina) Shine, Son, Christopher John (Christine) Shine; loving grandmother of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Grandchildren, Shelby, Shannon, Stephanie, Brittany, Savannah, Megan, Michael, Adam, and Hannah; Great-Grandchildren, Kirsten, Timothy, Molly, Ryan, Tyler, David, Mya, Lily, Madison, Isabella, Olivia, Nora, and Gracie. Preceded in death by parents, Ben and Jean Shapiro.
